It was another beautifully sunny and warm day in Boston, so I took advantage and walked over to Boston Common this morning after some time again in the fitness center. I’m thinking these old running shoes might not be making the trip home with me, they are officially wearing out!
There are so many gorgeous buildings in this area. This is one thing I love about big cities, especially ones established so long ago! Mind you, I have absolutely no idea what this building is or was, but it really is incredible!
Boston Common is simply a giant open park space and garden established in the 1850′s, with old trees, ponds, plenty of benches and statues and birds and squirrels. I was surprised at how many people were in the park, though I shouldn’t have been for how nice it was out. Lots of people taking advantage of a 60+ degree sunny November day!
There were also lots of daycare groups and parents with young children out, chasing the pigeons, feeding the ducks and pointing at the statues (“This is the one from Beauty and the Beast!” exclaimed one little girl about a statue of Thomas Cass).
In the midst of his son chasing around the birds, the father of this young boy asked me to take a moment and take a picture of the two of them. I think we tried three different times to get the boy to look at me and smile at the same time – the birds were just much too distracting for him to take even a second to focus.
Justin took some time for lunch and we walked to one of the food trucks parked around the area, this Grilled Cheese Nation food truck was parked right next to the Public Library. It was a deliciously homey lunch in the middle of a bustling city. We also split a Grilled Nutella, Banana, and Marshmallow fluff sandwich. Genius.
It was another great day to walk and walk and walk and walk!
