I got home for our Districts’ youth conference on Sunday afternoon after a weekend of lots of fun and little sleep, to a husband who was very antsy to head out on our trip. His excitement was catching, and I quickly agreed that we could pack up the car and head out. We finished packing bags, fit an amazing amount of our things into our tiny Honda and headed south. Justin reserved a hotel via Hotwire.com for Sunday evening in LeRoy, IL. It turned out to be a very nice and new Holiday Inn Express. We got a great night’s sleep and headed out toward Atlanta on Monday.
It was a rather smooth drive, with some dense fog and rain around Chattanooga, TN.
After 10 hours on the road, we hit some nasty Atlanta traffic just before the exit to our hotel. But it made for a pretty cool picture!
We decided to take in a bite to eat at Trader Vic’s in the hotel, knowing it would be kitschy and silly. And it was that, but also pretty tasty, and Justin enjoyed his Mai Tai.
A morning view of Atlanta.

We walked around a bit downtown in the morning, and then headed out for the last stretch of road to Savannah. We arrived around three in the afternoon, so we had time to unload the car, figure out parking, find our way around the condo, and walk around Savannah a little bit.

We’re looking forward to exploring the area and will share what we find!
