Oh my goodness, what a memorable day! As a fun gift for my birthday, Justin’s parents booked us a Segway Tour of San Antonio. As it was also Travis and Emily’s spring break from teaching, we booked two more slots in the group for them as well, to share in the laughs and adventure.
We really didn’t know what to expect, other than looking a bit dorky wearing bike helmets while riding a Segway. And that certainly did happen immediately, but after a short 5 minute orientation at SegCity of San Antonio, we were all riding Segways down the sidewalks of downtown San Antonio.
We were all impressed by how incredibly easy it was to control the Segway, and how little effort it took to speed up, slow down, and maneuver around. It only took a few minutes before Trav and Justin were weaving in and out of the line and speeding past Em and I, all the while eating gummy coke bottles and twin cherries candies.
Our guide lead us over to Hemisfair Park to get away from the crowded sidewalks for a bit. As there were still quite a few people around the Tower of the Americas, instead he choose to take us a bit further to the Alamodome, where we were really able to get a feel for the Segways, racing and playing around the sidewalks and open spaces.
It was such a fun experience, and we definitely had lots of laughs. Thank you again, John and Sarah!
